Profiles in Courage: Colonel Julian Stevens
The compassionate head of the 1st Extreme Hazardous Operations Unit, Colonel Julian Stevens, is a voice of reason and justice ever since assuming the position in the spring of 2226; he became the ninth commanding officer of the Seth Legion’s during its illustrious 168 year experience. Like most Legion command officers, Julian had been serving in the unit’s Command Staff for four years as the Legions S-2 or Intelligence officer, finally assuming command when the former CO, Colonel Bethany Jaunders, retired from the service to recover from a number of nagging injuries she sustained securing frontier colonies during the Alliances’ Great Expansion of 2220.
Julian’s appointment as CO was brought on by an absence of experienced Staff officers at the time. During this period of change, Julian was joined by Major Daniel Antilles, as Legion XO, who would serve in that capacity until his death in the Pirate War during operations on New Harridaios. This tragic event would bring Travis Winters to the position of XO, formerly Company Commander of Echo Company. The two of them would survive the war, and the reconstruction that followed, relying on each other’s strengths to survive the often hellish combat the Isolationists would put them through.
Compared to other Legion Command Officers, Julian is considered to be quite the dove in his thoughts and opinions, a trait that has made him one of the deciding members when it comes to difficult, or potentially life threatening situations that often necessitate the Council of Legions, or a briefing requiring the attendance of all Command level Legion officers.
Interesting facts about Colonel Julian Stevens:
- While it is often customary for Legion XO’s to take the place of their CO, Julian was actually holding a Staff position at the time of his predecessor’s retirement.
- Julian’s peaceful attitude has garnered him the title of the ‘Peacemaker’ when in comparison to other Legion Commanders.
- While he is slow to anger, Julian will not hesitate a call to action if the situation required it.
